KC spent the first 30 years of her life as a solitary pet, with only a small mirror for company. It was the only “monkey” she ever knew: her own reflection. She would talk to it, offer it food, and lean on it for comfort. When her owner finally realized she deserved more, KC was brought to Jungle Friends, where she could meet her own kind and experience the life she had always been missing.

At first, KC was cautious, carrying her mirror like a trusted friend. But slowly, with time and patience, she began to open up. The mirror stayed with her for a while, but eventually, she no longer needed it, as real companionship had taken its place. In her sanctuary life, KC has formed bonds with other monkeys that are built on trust and warmth. Now in her 40s, KC still loves to explore her habitat at her own pace, soaking up the sunshine while she keeps a close eye on the social scene around her.

While she rarely joins in the monkey drama, KC loves to observe it from a distance, perched comfortably in a warm patch of sun or tucked into a blanket inside her cozy, climate-controlled indoor space. She has a particular fondness for soft bedding, and her indoor area is always stocked with fluffy blankets—her favorite spot for a midday nap.

With her quiet strength, steady presence, and watchful eyes, KC brings a sense of calm wherever she goes. She’s earned every bit of the peace she now enjoys, and in

her gentle, regal way, she reminds us all that it’s never too late to find connection, comfort, and joy.
