KC arrived at Jungle Friends with a small mirror, her only companion during 30 years as a "pet." This mirror reflected the only monkey she had ever seen—herself. In 2012, her owner decided it was time for KC to find a new home and brought her to Jungle Friends, hoping she would bond with other monkeys.

At Jungle Friends, KC quickly adapted to her new environment but continued to use her mirror for companionship, often talking to it and trying to feed it, a sad reminder of her solitary past.

Then KC met Bongo, a survivor of nearly two decades of iron toxicity studies in a research laboratory. Bongo had lost the use of his legs, and KC lovingly cared for him, grooming him and standing by his side. After much care, Bongo defied the odds and miraculously regained the use of his legs!

These days, KC now enjoys life with Tiki, a lively companion with whom she shares playful antics and grooming sessions. The mirror that once symbolized her lonely existence is now a distant memory, replaced by the warmth of true friendship. KC has found her place, and with Tiki by her side, she's living her best life at the sanctuary.
