Roddy’s journey to Jungle Friends began when he was rescued from a failing roadside zoo, where he lived in a packed enclosure with 24 other capuchins. What was supposed to be a simple relocation quickly became a more complicated effort when several females unexpectedly gave birth after arrival, despite earlier assurances from the zoo that all males had been vasectomized. Roddy and the other males were briefly separated to receive proper care, and from there, his new life truly began.

These days, Roddy is a bright and energetic presence at the sanctuary, always on the move and always paying attention. He loves patrolling his runways, which give him a bird’s-eye view of all the monkey activity around him. Whether he’s checking on his neighbors, tracking who’s foraging where, or simply taking in the morning scenery, Roddy approaches his world with thoughtful curiosity.

Roddy also enjoys quiet little interactions with his human caregivers. If you walk by without offering him a peanut, he’ll quickly extend his little hands with the confidence of someone who knows he is very persuasive. And every morning, he treats himself to a refreshing shower under his watering lixit, a routine he enjoys with obvious satisfaction, tilting his face into the water like he’s at a spa.
