Andy is impossible not to love. Whenever someone walks by, he lets out a big, joyful scream — his way of saying, “Happy to meet you!” — and stretches out his hands, just in case you have a treat to share.

But this cheerful guy didn’t always have it easy. Andy was purchased as a surrogate child by professional motorcycle racer Angelle Sampey, the winningest female in motorsports history. Though she adored him, life as a monkey in a human home came with challenges. As he grew, Andy became lonely, bored, and confused. Like so many “pet” monkeys, he became unpredictable and even dangerous. Angelle realized he needed what she couldn’t provide — a true monkey life.

At seven years old, Andy arrived at Jungle Friends weighing in at 17 pounds! With ropes to swing from, trees to climb, and a monkey friend to play with, he quickly trimmed down. At first, he didn’t recognize his own kind, but with time and patience, he found his rhythm — and his perfect match.

Today, Andy and Carli are a model couple, one of the sanctuary’s most loving pairs. From human home to an Almost Wild life, Andy is finally where he belongs.
