Alex is the kind of monkey who always wants to know what everyone else is doing. Whether he’s peeking into a neighbor’s enclosure or chiming in on a vocal dispute, he never sits out the drama — especially if he started it!
Alex arrived at Jungle Friends when he was 30 years old, with a long history. Born at Wooster College in Ohio, he spent his life in cognitive and behavioral research. When the study ended, he retired alongside his sister, Aunt Gizmo, and Aunt Jake, to sunny Florida and a life of fresh air, freedom, and mischief.
Alex adapted beautifully to sanctuary life. He was the first to explore outdoors and quickly claimed his favorite pastime: jamming a stick into his waterer to make a muddy spa. But relaxation only lasts so long. Alex lives for action. If there’s a disagreement nearby, he’s perched at the top of his habitat, loudly adding his opinion.
Alex also has diabetes, when he arrived he and Gizmo were both on diabetes medication, now their diabetes is managed through diet and exercise.
Smart, curious, and delightfully mischievous, Alex keeps everyone on their toes.
