Dumbo has mastered the art of charm. While most monkeys flirt with a few quick lip-smacks or a hand over the heart, Dumbo takes it to the next level by standing tall, rubbing his belly, and raising his eyebrows with an undeniable swagger. He’s got smooth moves and he knows it.

But Dumbo isn’t just a flirt, he’s also a survivor. He was one of 25 capuchins rescued from a failing roadside zoo, where he lived in cramped conditions with far too many monkeys and far too little care. Among the group was a nursing mother and infant, suggesting the males had not all been vasectomized, despite previous claims. Sure enough, three females gave birth soon after the rescue.

To prevent any more surprises, Dumbo and the other males were placed in a temporary bachelor group and later underwent successful vasectomies. Once recovered, Dumbo moved into a lush, enriching habitat full of ropes, trees, bamboo, and sun-soaked napping spots.

These days, he’s living his best life: lounging in the grass, grooming with his companion, and always on the lookout for peanuts or admirers. Friendly, flirty, and fabulously relaxed, Dumbo is a one-of-a-kind character with a big heart and even bigger personality.
