When Hazard arrived at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary, he did so in historic fashion—alongside 25 fellow squirrel monkeys that were part of the first-ever troop retired from FDA nicotine studies—a milestone that even caught the attention of CNN. The spotlight, it seems, suits him. After years in a lab, Hazard has embraced his new role as the undisputed ringleader of a trio known for their wisecracking antics and boisterous behavior.

Affectionately known as “Haz,” he’s a natural-born performer with a penchant for turning any moment into a spectacle. Whether he’s making rude noises, tossing biscuits across the room, or emphasizing his comedic delivery with a jump up and down on his bouncy perch or coffee can swing.

Haz exudes a rebellious charm, a cheeky “So what if I did!” attitude that keeps everyone on their toes. He’s the classic trickster, enjoying nothing more than stirring the pot with a good old-fashioned “cry wolf” routine several times a day. His antics may raise a few eyebrows, but they’re all part of his endearing personality that has made him a beloved character at Jungle Friends.

With a flair for the dramatic and a gift for mischief, Haz isn’t just a monkey—he’s a one-monkey comedy show, keeping spirits high and laughter loud at his forever home.
