Moby arrived at Jungle Friends along with 25 other squirrel monkeys after Jane Goodall penned a letter to FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, urging an end to the nicotine studies involving these animals. This move marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time the FDA retired monkeys to a sanctuary, setting a precedent for the sanctuary retirement of research monkeys. As a youngster, Moby was the largest in his troop. These days, he prefers to sit close to the action, propping up his feet and watching the world go by, often with a biscuit in hand. Known as “Mr. Neutral,” Moby stays out of disputes and doesn't take sides, focusing instead on his role as an observer. With his keen eyes and laid-back demeanor, Moby could make an excellent witness, though he chooses to keep his observations to himself, letting his buddy Jaws handle the drama.
