With his permanently furrowed brow and grumpy-old-man charm, Mr. ChiChi might look like the grouch of the sanctuary, but anyone who’s earned his trust knows he’s really a softhearted character with a flair for dramatic greetings. An older weeper capuchin, he has settled into sanctuary life with a surprising mix of mischief, affection, and unmistakable personality. When Mr. ChiChi is excited to see someone, he doesn’t hold back. He’ll flop onto his back, bicycle-kick the air with gusto, and stare adoringly at his visitor while foaming at the mouth in pure, unfiltered enthusiasm. It’s his own unique way of saying, “You’re one of my favorites.”

Around his habitat, he keeps things lively. Plants tremble at his approach- shaking and tearing them up is one of his greatest joys, and he does so with the confidence of a monkey who knows his domain. But his happiest moments are spent with his beloved companion, BamBam. The two are almost always found together, play-wrestling, grooming, or simply relaxing side by side like an old married couple who know each other’s rhythms inside and out. Once a household pet, Mr. ChiChi now enjoys the freedom to be fully himself: a quirky, expressive, secretly sweet soul whose antics brighten every corner of the sanctuary.
