Ben carries himself with all the dignity — and occasional indignation—of a true white-faced capuchin, complete with a legendary scowl. He has perfected the art of announcing his opinions, often by tossing toys with enthusiasm or lobbing a piece of food at a caregiver who dared to disturb his peace. His personality is big, bold, and endlessly entertaining.

Ben’s story began when he was purchased as an infant to be a companion for an older monkey named Annie. The two lived together for many years, with Annie serving as a steady, motherly presence that shaped Ben’s early life. When their guardians realized the monkeys needed more than an indoor life could provide, both were brought to Jungle Friends so they could have a better future. Having spent years indoors, they were losing their hair—something sunshine, fresh air, and space quickly helped restore.

Ben proved to be the brave explorer of the pair. He was the first to dash through the runway into the outdoor habitat, eagerly inspecting every new feature. His confidence helped Annie follow and settle into sanctuary life.

After Annie’s passing, Ben was introduced to Mickey, another white-faced capuchin. Together, the two boys enjoy rattling toys, surveying their habitat, and keeping a watchful eye on their neighbors. Resilient and full of character, Ben continues to rule his corner of the sanctuary with unmistakable flair.
