Bonnie is the kind of monkey who wins people over instantly. Sweet, social, and loving, she greets the world with a curiosity all her own. When something truly delights her, she lights up with the most irresistible “happy face”—her mouth opens wide, her eyes brighten, and for a moment she looks like pure sunshine wrapped in fur.

Before coming to Jungle Friends, Bonnie lived in a thoughtfully designed home with a climate-controlled indoor enclosure, outdoor habitat, and runway access between spaces. However, during an unexpected incident when an enclosure was left unsecured, Bonnie and several other capuchins escaped. In the chaos that followed, a housekeeper was injured, and the monkeys ultimately made their way into a neighboring property before being safely recaptured. While everyone recovered, the incident made it clear that even the best private setups can’t fully meet the needs or safely contain intelligent, strong-willed capuchins.

Following that event, the compassionate decision was made to bring the monkeys to Jungle Friends, where their complex behaviors could be safely supported in a sanctuary setting designed specifically for them.

Today, Bonnie enjoys a peaceful routine alongside her companion, Katie, who is facing a terminal cancer diagnosis. The two older ladies share a gentle partnership, foraging, exploring, and savoring quiet moments together. With her warm spirit and glowing expressions, Bonnie brings comfort and joy to the sanctuary she calls home.
