Ernesto, affectionately known as “Ernesto the Pesto… he’s a pest, though!” has enough personality to fill the entire sanctuary. He arrived at Jungle Friends at nine years old after outgrowing life as a “pet,” bringing his bold spirit and boundless energy with him. From day one, Ernie made it clear he was ready for a world where climbing high, causing commotion, and being unapologetically himself were all encouraged.

Ernie lives for reactions. He delights in tossing objects at passersby, popping out from behind plants at just the right moment, or stirring up a little chaos simply to see who jumps. That sparkle in his eye right before a mischievous move… that’s quintessential Pesto.

When he’s excited — which is often — Ernie bursts into joyful spins and lets out a loud, exuberant call that echoes across the sanctuary. His enthusiasm is infectious, and laughter tends to follow wherever he goes.

Ernie has shared his life with Hayley from the very beginning. She was just a baby when they met, and he still watches over her like a big brother. Together, they make a lively, adventurous pair. With his rowdy charm and endless playfulness, Ernesto keeps life around him vibrant, unpredictable, and full of joyful chaos.
