Frodo’s story began in unfortunate circumstances when he was illegally purchased as a “pet” in a state where monkeys are not allowed. Confiscated at just six months old, Frodo was rescued and brought to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary, where he could finally live among his own kind. At first, life at the sanctuary was intimidating—Frodo, never having been around other monkeys, was shy and unsure of how to socialize. But everything changed when he met Ellie Mae, a young white-faced capuchin. Their bond quickly blossomed, and soon, Frodo was wrestling and playing with his new best friend.

These days, Frodo is a ball of energy, often showing off or playfully threatening his neighboring monkeys—especially with Ellie Mae by his side. His favorite pastime? Rolling around in the mud until he’s almost unrecognizable. Frodo spends his days tearing up grass, creating more room for his next muddy adventure, or joyfully playing with Ellie Mae. Together, they make quite the dynamic duo, keeping life at the sanctuary lively and fun. Frodo’s playful, muddy antics—and his close bond with Ellie Mae—have made him one of the sanctuary’s most memorable characters.
