Udi’s early life, however, was far from joyful. His story began in a New York City basement, where he was purchased by someone unprepared to care for a baby monkey. He was eventually found alone without food or water by two compassionate young women who refused to leave him behind. Though they offered safety and kindness, Udi’s complex needs were more than they could provide. Without proper nutrition or sunlight, he developed metabolic bone disease, leaving him too weak to stand and forcing him to scoot across the floor.
Determined to help him heal, they searched for a sanctuary, which led them to Jungle Friends. When Udi arrived at just fourteen months old, he weighed only four pounds and struggled to support himself. With expert care, patience, and time, he transformed completely.
Today, Udi is strong, healthy, and full of life. In his home, Thunderdome, shared with Lizzy and Goldie Hawn, he soars through the habitat, showing off his athleticism, curiosity, and playful flair. Known for harmless pranks and dramatic displays, Udi now lives exactly as he was meant to — bold, joyful, and unforgettable.
