Dexter doesn’t believe in subtle hellos – if you’re near his habitat, you’ll hear him before you see him. With a loud, cheerful scream, he announces every visitor like they’re the guest of honor! It’s just part of his charm and his role as Jungle Friends’ unofficial greeter.

This energetic capuchin arrived on July 4, 2015, not yet two years old. His human caregivers had raised him with love, but they knew he needed a life with other monkeys. So, they made the long journey from Kansas to Florida, not just to bring him to Jungle Friends, but to help him transition with care, staying several days to make sure he felt safe.

Now settled into sanctuary life, Dexter is known for his huge personality and nonstop antics. He loves wrestling with his monkey companion, Tête, swinging dramatically from buckets that hang from the top of his enclosure, and flying across his habitat at the first sign of snacks. Always curious and full of energy, he’s constantly in motion and constantly making people smile.

Whether he’s playing, performing, or pranking, Dexter brings joy to everyone around him. His life now is full of freedom, friendship, and the space to be his wonderfully wild self!
