Miki Moo is a calm, tender-hearted capuchin with a soft presence that gently draws people in. Quiet by nature, she enjoys the peaceful side of sanctuary life, especially anything involving a warm blanket or a cozy place to relax. When she’s not snuggled up, Miki can often be found carefully foraging through her habitat, searching for bugs and other tiny treasures that keep her curious and engaged.

Miki Moo arrived at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary in June of 2009 alongside her longtime companion, Mico, who is quite the opposite—loud, demanding, and always eager for attention from favorite caregivers. At just 14 years old, Miki had already experienced many of the challenges common to monkeys kept as “pets.” The busy sights and sounds of the sanctuary were overwhelming at first, and she also arrived with diabetes, requiring insulin to stay healthy.

With patience, consistency, and gentle care, Miki slowly began to relax. Over time, she no longer needed insulin and has tested well for many years. Her anxious expressions softened, uncertain calls faded, and playful faces and quiet giggles began to emerge—clear signs she was finally feeling safe.

Today, Miki Moo is thriving. She moves through her days with calm confidence, enjoying her routines, her creature comforts, and the natural behaviors she was always meant to express. Her journey is a quiet but powerful reminder of how compassion and time can help a sensitive soul truly blossom.
