Rikki, a common marmoset, once lived as a pet, but, like so many monkeys in the pet trade, her wild instincts eventually surfaced. After she became aggressive towards one member of her household, her guardians made the compassionate decision to find her a more natural and enriching environment. That choice led her to Jungle Friends, where she could finally be surrounded by her own kind and enjoy a life much closer to the one nature intended for her.

Since arriving, Rikki has surprised everyone with her calm, easygoing personality. While other monkeys might stir at strange sounds or fluttering birds, Rikki stays cool and collected, content to chirp at her neighbors and lounge in one of her many beloved hanging beds. In fact, she's not picky; any soft, suspended spot will do just fine for a nap!

One of Rikki's favorite pastimes is gouging the trees in her habitat. In the wild, marmosets rely on tree sap and gum as a major food source, and they use their specialized teeth to chew into bark and create sap wells. Rikki has fully embraced this natural behavior, and she can often be found hard at work, doing what marmosets do best, while keeping a watchful eye out for her next treat (ideally popcorn, which she absolutely loves).

With her gentle energy, curious habits, and natural charm, Rikki has truly made herself at home – and reminds us just how beautiful life can be when a monkey gets to be exactly who she is.
