Bandit

Species: Common Squirrel Monkey
Background: Former Lab
Date of Birth: 5/27/2014
Arrival Date: 11/14/2018
Bandit, along with 25 other squirrel monkeys, was relocated to Jungle Friends Sanctuary following the cessation of the FDA's nicotine research, of which he was a part. This event marked a historic first—the FDA retiring monkeys to a sanctuary, thereby setting a precedent for sanctuary retirement as a vital step for research monkeys. Bandit earned his name due to his habit of rubbing his sleepy face with his dirty hands, which leaves dark circles around his eyes. He is fond of long, leisurely back rubs. In contrast, his friend Hank is always neatly groomed and ready to meet people with a clean face and hands.
