Nick, affectionately known around the sanctuary as Trader Nick, has a personality as clever as it is charming. Before arriving at Jungle Friends, he lived at the University of Georgia, where he learned to exchange tokens for treats. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he could bring that skill into his new life and improve upon it. Now, if Nick spots you holding a snack, he’ll immediately start hunting for the perfect trade item: a stick, a leaf, a bit of straw, whatever he thinks has good bargaining value. If you try to ignore him, you might find yourself getting gently pelted with a leaf or twig. That’s Nick’s polite way of saying, “Excuse me, I’m ready to negotiate.”

Nick has a quiet, observant way about him. He watches everything, absorbing details with a level of focus that makes him seem wiser than even the average capuchin- and capuchins are already impressively smart! He loves to climb to the top of his jungle gym, where he can keep an eye on all the sanctuary happenings from his personal lookout post.

He’s also a monkey of strong opinions: sunshine is wonderful, rain is unacceptable, and mealtimes should always be enjoyed from the highest seat in the house. With his intellect, humor, and unmistakable knack for deal-making, Trader Nick has become a beloved character at Jungle Friends, and one of the sanctuary’s most unforgettable personalities!
