Silly Willy has a name that fits him perfectly: he’s bright, bouncy, and full of the kind of charm that can make anyone smile. But his story didn’t begin that way. Captured from the wild and sold into biomedical research, he was one of eight capuchins used in iron-toxicity studies. For years, he lived alone in a barren metal cage, with no companionship, enrichment, or comfort. Those long, isolating days could have dimmed any spirit, but not Silly Willy’s.

At Jungle Friends, Silly Willy finally has the life he deserved all along: sunlight, space, friendship, and the freedom to express every quirky bit of his personality. And he takes full advantage of it. When he gets excited, whether it’s at the sight of a caregiver he likes or a monkey friend passing by, he shoots his eyebrows sky-high, a signature Silly Willy greeting that never fails to delight.

True to his name, he’s wonderfully playful. He loves turning toys into noisemakers, drumming, tapping, and creating his own joyful soundtrack as he moves through his day. Even better, he now shares his life with his companion Ethel, who adores

grooming him and keeping him looking handsome. Silly Willy may have spent years alone, but those days are long behind him.

Now, his world is filled with activity, affection, and laughter. He has rediscovered his rhythm, and he fills the sanctuary with it!
