Dodger may be one of the smallest capuchins at the sanctuary, but he carries a story and a spirit much larger than his size. He arrived at Jungle Friends at five years old after spending his early life as a “pet” with someone well-intentioned but misguided. Lacking the proper diet and care young capuchins need, Dodger became severely malnourished, and his growth was stunted. When he arrived, he weighed only 2.5 pounds — less than half of what a capuchin his age should have weighed.

But Dodger is nothing if not resilient. With proper nutrition, attentive care, and room to move, he began to flourish. Though still smaller than most adult capuchins, he is lively, confident, and full of sparkle.

Dodger is also wonderfully expressive about who captures his heart. He has a clear fondness for certain visitors, especially men, and he celebrates it with flair. When someone catches his eye, Dodger puts on a full performance: excited chirps, a dramatic “duck face”, and a joyful backward spin that feels like his own little Pride Parade. It’s impossible not to smile, and impossible not to love him.

Today, Dodger lives life out loud and unapologetically himself — bursting with energy, ready for a wrestling match or a chase with his best friends, Tabitha and Lily. His journey may have started small, but Dodger’s joy, confidence, and individuality shine brighter every day.
