Lulu’s path to Jungle Friends terrifyingly began when she was left behind during Hurricane Frances at just six years old. Confused and terrified, she bolted when rescuers arrived, leading to a tense pursuit that ended with her being sedated for her own safety. The tranquilizers were so strong that Lulu slept for three days, her future uncertain. But when she finally opened her eyes, she discovered she was somewhere completely new, and somewhere far safer than the storm she’d escaped.

With time, gentle care, and the comfort of her new surroundings, Lulu found her footing. She also found Stinky, who quickly became her constant companion. The two bonded deeply, spending their days eating, grooming, napping, and exploring side by side. With Stinky nearby, Lulu’s confidence blossomed.

These days, Lulu is a bundle of playful fire. She adores her monkey biscuits, meets every new day with enthusiasm, and isn’t afraid to show her opinions- especially when it comes to pine cones! If she spots one, she’ll plant herself nearby and let out her signature angry barks until someone removes the offending object. It’s a dramatic display, but unmistakably Lulu. Feisty, fun-loving, and full of personality, Lulu brightens the sanctuary with her spirited charm and undeniable zest for life.
